ARtGlass at the University Museum of Palazzo Poggi

A journey through art, science and wonder

In December 2016, ARtGlass launched a new augmented reality tour of the University Museum of Palazzo Poggi. The tour brings so life the museum’s collections about science and art. The tour can be experienced by wearing Epson Moverio smart glasses, which are provided by the museum. Avisitor simply dons the smart glasses and is transported to the workshop of Ulisse Aldrovandi – the pioneer of European naturalists. A visitor can also experience the famous Wunder kammer of Ferdinando Cospi, who collected the rarest and most bizarre products of nature and the arts. Finally, visitors discover the Institute of Science, which was founded in 1711 by the general and scientist, Luigi Ferdinando Marsili. Roberto Balzani, Chair of the University Museum System, stated, “It is the first experience of such a kind in a scientific museumand we hope it will be appreciated by the audience. It gives more fluidity to the narration of a great natural history museum”.

Palazzo Poggi is open from Tuesday-Friday from 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m., and on Saturday-Sunday 10:30a.m. – 5:30p.m.
